Murder trial fears
A judge yesterday slammed delays in bringing a man accused of gunning down gangster Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll to trial.
Lord Bonomy continued the case against Ross Monaghan at the High Court in Glasgow for seven days to allow further inquiries to be made.
But he said: "This court is expressing concern about the time being taken to bring this case to trial."
Monaghan, 29, denies murdering Carroll outside an Asda supermarket in Robroyston, Glasgow, on January 13, 2010.
The case was continued to allow DNA and mobile phone analysis to be carried out.
Lord Bonomy told defence QC Paul McBride: "The court wants its concerns to be conveyed by you to those who are carrying out this analysis to be sure they are aware of the ongoing urgency attached to this."
It is claimed that, while masked and acting with others, Monaghan repeatedly fired at Carroll with a handgun and shot him in the head and body.
Monaghan also faces a number of other charges, including firearms offences.
He denies all the charges against him. No trial date has been set.
