Authorities in Los ­Angeles decided to “reinvigorate” the case after new information emerged a few months ago.

The singer, who was born Christopher Wallace, transformed himself from a Brooklyn street hustler – once selling crack cocaine to pregnant women – into a worldwide star.

He was widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time.

The story of his life and death was told in the 2009 movie Notorious, with ­virtual unknown lookalike Jamal Woolard cast as the rapper, who was also known as Biggie Smalls.

He was gunned down aged 24 in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997, as he was riding in a 4x4 ­vehicle after a music industry ­party."
