Chiba prefectural police today released a photo of a former gangster suspected of shooting and killing another former gangster at a family restaurant yesterday morning, reports the Mainichi Shimbun(Feb. 14).
At 10:00 a.m., Tomio Ishikawa, 65, is alleged to have shot Yoshiaki Furukawa, 62, at the entrance of an outlet of the Denny’s family restaurant chain in Togane City, police said. The injured man went into cardiopulmonary arrest and was airlifted to a local hospital but died before arrival. Ishikawa, wearing black clothes and sporting closely cropped hair, fled in a vehicle.
According to broadcaster NHK, the victim is believed to be a former senior-level member of the Sumiyoshi-kai organized crime group and an acquaintance of the gunman, who police said is likely a former member of the Yamaguchi-gumi, Japan’s largest criminal family.
Police are now engaged in a manhunt and investigating what led to the incident.DISCLAIMER:Text may be subject to copyright. This blog does not claim copyright to any such text. Copyright remains with the original copyright holder
