The 44-year-old, from Huyton, was said to be the “architect” behind the ruse which saw hundreds of kilos of heroin smuggled into the UK from Holland.
The authorities were unable to put an exact figure on how much of the drug the 13-strong gang were able to flood the streets with.
But in the 11 months they were being watched by SOCA agents, it is estimated they brought in upwards of £50m worth.
So far, Brown’s lieutenants and footsoldiers have been sentenced to a total of 148 years behind bars.
Brown will find out his fate on Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to the conspiracy at Liverpool crown court today.
The gang’s activities were curtailed in October 2006, when eagle-eyed Customs officers at Hull docks became suspicious of a consignment of quad bikes coming in from Holland."
